Digital marketing trends change just as fast as viral sounds on TikTok, and staying ahead of the competition in 2023 is a full-time job. (It actually is our full-time job here at SEOversite☺️). So we’re here to share a few digital trends that we’ll be watching this year. And if keeping up with digital marketing trends isn’t your thing – because you have another full-time job – reach out to learn how we can do it for you.
We all know UX design is important – websites and apps need to have seamless and intuitive navigation, be visually appealing, and focus on user experience. But what are the newest UX trends for 2023?
The main point to consider is overall user experience. UX designers are shifting their focus away from solely optimizing speed and performance, and instead, they are honing in on creating something memorable and unique. By incorporating aspects like motion design and animation, websites and apps can offer a dynamic and visually appealing experience, making them stand out and memorable to users.
Bonus Tip: One way they’re incorporating this trend is “scrollytelling.” Now you’re probably thinking “WTH is that?” Scrollytelling is telling a story through scrolling. It’s a popular form of digital storytelling where the narrative is broken up into smaller pieces that are revealed as you meander down the page. It’s kind of like a “choose your own adventure” book, but on a website. Instead of just reading text, scrollytelling combines text with images and other cool stuff to create an immersive experience. It’s all about making boring information more fun and engaging, so you’ll actually want to keep reading and learning.
Automation + AI
Say goodbye to generic experiences! In 2023, consumers are all about personalization. By incorporating AI into your marketing strategy, you can automate tedious tasks, provide customized experiences, and ultimately, work more efficiently.
Think of it as having a super smart assistant that can analyze customer data, predict their behavior, and target them with the right message, at the right time. This not only saves you time, but also helps you make the most of your marketing efforts. Plus, AI helps you track your results and gives you insights for future campaigns, so you can keep getting better and better!
… Did you know those two paragraphs were entirely written by AI? Could you tell? AI chatbots are going to be a HUGE game changer this year, with ChatGPT as the current star. So what is it? In its own words:
“Hey there! I’m ChatGPT, a cool conversational AI model developed by OpenAI. I can chat with you and respond to all sorts of questions and prompts. I was trained on a ton of text from the internet, so I can have conversations that sound pretty human-like. And, I can be used for various purposes such as generating text, answering questions, and even for language translation.”
So does this mean you can use ChatGPT to write all of your website copy or social media posts? Not so fast… although there is opportunity to use this cutting-edge tool in some capacity, don’t think that Google hasn’t already planned for A.I. content in their algorithms. Google’s BERT update is already trained on finding A.I. generated content and will mark it as “junk” or “spammy”. Additionally, A.I.-generated content has a digital watermark on it, much like a stock photo has a watermark, which will essentially be a tattle-tale to Google that your content isn’t original.
Influencer marketing is still a hot trend, with businesses partnering with creators to reach new audiences and build brand awareness. With the plethora of social media platforms available, businesses have the opportunity to partner with a wide range of influencers, from comedians and musicians to gamers and fashion bloggers. The key to success in 2023 is finding the right influencer for your brand, and creating a partnership that resonates with both their audience and yours. Here are a few tips for your 2023 influencer endeavors from our sister-company, iScreamSocialMedia:
Identify influencers who align with your brand values and target audience. Start searching and scrolling on Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok to find creators who make content that resonates with your company! You can also post on websites like Fiverr and Upwork to find influencers who offer their services as freelancers, similarly to posting on hiring websites like Indeed or LinkedIn.
Research the influencer’s engagement and followers to determine their reach and credibility. Beyond their view count, how many likes, comments, saves, and shares do they average per post? If something seems fishy, dig deeper. An abnormally high like count and no comments? They could be buying likes – a quick scroll through the accounts that liked the post will be able to tell you if they’re bots or not.
Personalize your approach by crafting a clear and compelling message that highlights the benefits of working together. Present your brand values, aesthetic, and what sets you apart from other businesses like yours.
Contact the creator through email, direct message, or by dropping a comment! Most influencers have the best way to reach them written out in their bios.
Establish clear expectations, compensation, and details of the collaboration upfront. Are they going to create content for you? An ad, Reel, TikTok, or story? Are they being paid in product? When should they expect payment? Have all the logistics set so it’s smooth sailing from there!
